October Activities

Den Leaders' Meeting, October 2, 2001
Den Leaders' monthly meeting at Missy Mitchell's house, 6:15 p.m.

Pack Meeting, October 18, 2001
Harpeth Valley School Cafeteria, 6:45 p.m.

W.L.O.E. (Webelos Leader Outdoor Experience), October 19-21, 2001
Boxwell Reservation at Camp Stahlman

W.L.O.E. is an energetic training that will cover almost everything you need to know to plan and run a Webelos program. It includes classes that expose you to many of the activity pins, camping as a patrol, outdoor activities, camping skills, uniforming, the transition from Webelos to Boy Scouts, and Cub Scout cooking demonstrations.

W.L.O.E. is highly recommended for all Bear and, of course, Webelos leaders.

Position Specific Training, October 23, 2001
Held at the Scout Center, this training is required for adult leaders to obtain the necessary "Trained Patch," signifying the leader has completed basic Scout leader training.

Contact district training chairperson Ginger Reasonover at (615) 313.1785 for the specific time of this training event.

Cub Family Campout, October 26~28, 2001
The Area 1 Cub Family Campout will be held at Boxwell Scout Reservation on October 27 and 28. Packs can begin arriving to camp overnight at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26.

CubWorld closes at 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 28.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a little autumn camping with our pack and to get acquainted with the Boxwell Scout Reservation.

Boxwell is the Scout facility that is home to Gaylord CubWorld and Camp Stahlman, the sites of summer camp for Tennessee Scouts.

December Activities

Holiday Service Project 2001
Pack 40 is sponsoring eight families for our service project this December. Each den wishing to participate in this voluntary service project will be assigned a family in need of food, clothing, toys or other items to help in making their holiday season a more enjoyable one.

We suggest that the Scouts do extra chores and odd jobs around the house to earn money to pool with the money earned by the other Scouts in their den to purchase some of the items for the family you are sponsoring.

If you have any questions, call Missy Mitchell, 646.2306.
